Guess who finally decided to feed herself a snack today?? That's right, my almost nine-month old refuses to put ANYTHING in her mouth, even her fingers!! Everyone tells me how lucky I am, I don't have to worry (too much) about her eating something dangerous or getting sick from germs on her hands. Yes, very true, but when I give her snacks she sits in her highchair like a little bird. Mouth wide open, hands at her sides, leaning forward trying to get whatever is in my hand into her mouth. On occasion she also does this with noses if you get too close :)
Well, we had a snow day here in Dallas so I got to work from home! Yay!! Around lunchtime I realized that we were out of baby food and there was no way I was going to run out to Target. So, I rummaged around our pantry and found graham crackers. Perfect!!! I gave Avery a few small pieces on her high chair tray and went back to work. Five minutes later every piece was gone!! I was so excited until I noticed Cash cleaning up the pieces on the floor. So, we tried again but this time I gave her a big piece, almost one whole square. She started sucking on it and slowly moved her hands up to her mouth!! Success!! I still have to initially put the food in her mouth but at least now she'll hold it there so she can suck/chew on whatever it is she's eating!!
She made quite a mess, I guess this is what I have to look forward to!!!
First attempt, no luck.
Mom, help a girl out here.
Much better!
Trying desperately (and unsuccessfully) to get the cracker back in her mouth
Yep, it's Cash's now!
Delicious and well worth the effort!!
This sweet little girl makes me laugh every.single.day.
Way to go Avery girl!! She is one cutie that is for sure!!
